- How far is it to the beach?
Can I walk to the beach? We are just a stones throw (with a good arm) from the the National Park borders...the pictures you see online depict our magnificent (although pictures never really do justice to the real thing) view of the shoreline and waters of the Cavendish National Park. There are two ways to get there... you can walk about a 5 to 7 minute walk to the west (out the lane and to the left) to a red clay lane that winds down to the shore road and beaches. All in all about a 12 to 15 minute walk to get to the shore (we have a map drawn up that you can have). Or you can hop in your car and head for any one of 3 toll-gated entries to the park... the cental entrance is nearest us at just about a 2 minute car ride to the west and as a little welcome to our guests, we provide, free of charge, for use during your stay, a national park pass. Normally you would have to pay
$17.00 a day or about $70.00 per week for a family pass but we encourage our guests to hang our complimentary Dreams to Sea pass in their window (only asking that you return it upon check for the next guest to use). Not much of a savings but, I always think, every penny helps when on vacation and means more pennies for lobster and other yummies!! The pass is also good for the other national parks on PEI too so you can explore them as well while you stay with us.
- How much does it cost to get into the National Park?

- Do you have a crib/highchair available?
Available on a "first come first served" basis as we have highchairs and a playpen and a rocking chairs
and a baby stoller available for guest use (highchair, playpen, stroller or rocking chair $3.00/day $15.00/week). In the past, many parents have expressed concern over our "first come first served" policy so we do offer that if you wish the certainty of an item(s) availability you may reserve it
and we will happily have it ready and waiting for you on your arrival.
- What's the main difference between a "Standard Deluxe" and a "Deluxe Whirlpool" cottage?
The main difference between our Standard Deluxe and our Deluxe Whirlpool Bath units is the bath...our newest units (3 in total awaiting your check-in!!), the "Deluxe Whirlpool Bath Cottage", are home to spacious bathrooms each complete with its own 4-jet whirlpool bathtub, making it the perfect way to relax and unwind after a full day of sightseeing, swimming or golf!! As well the cottages are slightly more spacious and decorated to a higher standard with larger barbecues, comfier deck chairs, quality bedroom, kitchen and livingroom decor. Our 3 Deluxe Whirlpool Bath cottages are set off from the standard deluxe units (to the right) and are situated to the left of the drive as you come aboard Dreams To Sea. They each have a full unimpeded front row view of the reds, golds and greens and not to forget the blues: rolling fields, rich red PEI soil, endless miles of white sand beaches, and azure blue waves.
- When is check in time?
Check-in-time - 3:00 PM
Check-out-time - 10:00 AM
between the hours of 10 and 3 we are running here there and everywhere in
the "busy-ness" of getting your cottage all set up and ready for your arrival.
But although it is best for us to be able to keep with our cleaning routines, we
do understand that sometimes flight schedules or road trips or other
circumstances make for an early arrival on the Island. If you find yourself on
the Island or in the Cavendish area earlier than our check in time of 3pm,
please give us a call. Depending on the time of year and/or previous guest check
out, we may be able to speed things up for and earlier check in time. Thanks so
much for understanding. See you soon.
- Do you have a swimming pool?
Our apologies but we do not have a swimming pool here at Dreams To Sea. The white sand beaches of Cavendish National Park are just a short distance away and you can get there "on us" using our complimentary National Park Pass (see FAQ #2 for more details on our comp park passes). Plus there is lots for kids and kids at heart to do here at Dreams To Sea... why not select a video from our over
700 titles or why not toss a football or baseball (gloves and balls available at the office) or kick around a soccer ball... how about a push on our swing/slide set or a game of giant snakes and ladders, monopoly, uno or trivial pursuit! Kids can come root through our toy box for some toys, pass some time in the pages of a book from our library shelves or borrow a cd to listen to.
- Do I need to bring towels?
We provide your cottage with enough towels and facecloths for use during your stay. In the interest of the environment, each deck is equipped witha clothesline for air drying your towels. For longer stay guests, we also offer a towel laundry service: if at some point during your week long or longer stay, should you wish to have laundering, just place your towels in your hamper
and bring to the office. We will launder them for you pick-up later that day.
NOTE: We do ask that you "not" take DTSC towels to the beach. Please bring your own beach towels or purchase a beach towel OR an authentic Thailand beach sarong at the office... they make a great beach blanket, wrap and/or towel.
- "I stayed in cottage #4 last year... so I wonder if I can request that specific cottage again this year?"
At Dreams To Sea we try our best to consider all such requests however our policy is such that we cannot guarantee specific cottage requests. In order to keep our reservation board flowing smoothly (without gaps and holes here and there) and in order to accomodate as many guests as possible, we cannot promise a specific cottage. We do note requests and make every effort to accomodate them if we can.
- What are your office hours?
24 - 7 ! No just kidding but we do live on site in our summer home in back of our office so we are here pretty much 24-7 in the summer. Our posted open hours at the office are from
9:00 am to 8:00 pm so stop on up for a movie, game, tourist info or a friendly chat anytime!
- Do you have internet?
Yes we do! There is an internet corner at the office. Feel free to check email, surf the web or look up info on PEI from one of our bookmarked sites. If you have your own computer that you wish to bring you can connect to the internet in your cottage using the provided phone line. You will need to find your local service provider phone number for PEI in Charlottetown as it is a local call.
